Yesterday Google announced in an official blogpost that it would be launching its own web browser called Chrome which would be available for download today.
You can see this excellent comic book by Google explaining about Chrome and its new approach.
Web browsers are programmes that allow computer users to navigate the internet long since dominated by Internet Explorer & Mozilla Firefox. It is not yet clear how Google’s Chrome will effect the equation or how quick they adoption will be. But it is likely that with heavy promotion by Google and considering its new approach things could get quite interesting.
Chrome makes uses of multiple processes, where each tab runs on a separate process. Unlike Firefox or IE, if one tab freezes, Chrome can simply close that tab, not affecting the running of other tabs or the browser as a whole. With optimised memory usuage, an updated Java engine and a new approach to security it promises much.
Anything by Google is usually received well, although for today at least expect a huge surge in people accessing the google servers to download the early release.
